Subject: Health advisory
This Warden Message is being issued to alert U.S. citizens to an outbreak of acute watery diarrhea, possible cholera, typhoid, or other bacterial diarrhea, in South Oromiya (in six Woredas adjacent to Shashemane). It is likely that unreported cases exist in parts of the Southern Nations, Nationality and Peoples Region (SNNPR). For further information on prevention and treatment of cholera and other diarrheal diseases please refer to the Center for Disease Control travelers’ health website: www.cdc.gov/travel/diseases.htm.
U.S. citizens living or traveling in Ethiopia are urged to register with the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa or through the State Department's travel registration website, <https://travelregistration.state.gov>, and to obtain updated information on travel and security within Ethiopia.
