The U.S. Mission Addis Ababa is seeking an individual for the position of Associate Engineer in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Office in Ethiopia.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Under the direct supervision of the Facilities Project Specialist, the incumbent will support the monitoring, engineering, and supervisory & managerial efforts for the successful accomplishment of CDC Ethiopia construction/renovation projects at Government of Ethiopia (GoE) medical/ health facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
NOTE: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.
1. Required Education: Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Building Engineering, or related engineering fields such as (mechanical, electrical, industrial, environmental, agricultural, textile/material science, computer/computer science, biomedical/biological, or chemical) is required.
2. Required Prior Experience: Minimum of five years of progressive responsible experience in design and building construction, and renovation & maintenance of an existing facility and additional two years of experience in a supervisory role in construction and/or renovation work is required.
3. Language Requirement: Level 3 (good working knowledge) of Speaking/Reading English and Amharic is required.
4. Other Skills: Incumbent must have good knowledge of International building codes as well as local ones; must be familiar with testing mechanisms (e.g. – slump test) and shop drawing review & design, water & electricity resource utilization through conservation, green-tech/clean-tech, or other mechanisms is required. Incumbent must also have competency in using MS Office Suite and CAD software.
5. Interpersonal Skill Requirements: Attention to detail and very strong interpersonal skills (written & verbal) and excellent problem-solving skills are mandatory.
