The U.S. Mission Addis Ababa is seeking an individual for the position of Shipment Clerk in the General Service Office of the Embassy.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Under the direct supervision of the Shipping and Customs Supervisor, the incumbent obtains vehicle registration, inspection and import/export documentation for government-owned vehicles (GOVs) and privately owned vehicles (POVs) of American staff; obtains driving licenses for American staff; pays fees to obtain local insurance for GOVs and POVs; works closely with the Road Transport Authority (RTA) and Ministry of Transportation to facilitate vehicle registrations and inspections; may assist in making arrangements for incoming and outgoing official shipments. Delivers diplomatic notes to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and delivers and expedites passports to obtain visas from various diplomatic missions and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
NOTE: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.
1. Required Education: Completion of Secondary School is required.
2. Required Prior Experience: Minimum of one year experience in dealing directly with either the Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials or Road Transport Authority, local customs and Ministry of Transportation officials in carrying out vehicle registration, licensing, and insurance is required.
3. Language Requirement: Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading Amharic and Level 3 English is required.
4. Other Skills: Must possess a current and valid Grade III Ethiopian driver’s license; must have strong basic computer skills and knowledge.
5. Interpersonal Skill Requirements: Must be able to work quickly and calmly under pressure, must be able to organize and prioritize work assignments, provide follow-up, and notify supervisor immediately of potential problems.
SELECTION PROCESS

1. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
2. Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
3. Currently employed US Citizen EFMs who hold a FMA appointment are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
4. Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment, unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
