The U.S. Mission Addis Ababa is seeking an individual for the position of Executive Secretary in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Office in Ethiopia. 

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Under the general supervision of the CDC-Mission Director the incumbent serves as the Executive Secretary for the CDC Mission Director and performs a full range of secretarial and administrative functions. Perform a variety of highly responsible secretarial, administrative duties for the executive staff and technical advisors as assigned by the CDC-Ethiopia Country Director. Serves as primary point of contact for individuals visiting the Country Director.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

NOTE:  All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.

1. Required Education: B.A. in Management, business administration or B. Sc in Secretarial Science and       Office Management is required.
2. Required Prior Experience:  Minimum of six years progressively responsible experience related to secretarial/administrative assistance is required.
3. Language Requirement: Level 4 (fluent) Speaking/Reading English and Amharic is required.     
4. Other Skills:  Should be knowledgeable in matters relating to protocol, able to maintain the high level of confidentiality required by the position, be reasonably fluent in the use of computer and Harvard Graphics (or other graphics design/production program) and Windows. Should have a minimum typing/word processing speed of 70 words per minute with complete accuracy; be able to take dictation (either through shorthand or speed writing) and able to take high level meeting minutes.

5. Interpersonal Skill Requirements: Excellent inter-personal skill to communicate with CDC/E high-ranking officers, technical staff, and other staff.
SELECTION PROCESS
When equally qualified, US Citizen Eligible Family Members (AEFM) and U.S. Veterans will be given preference.  Therefore, it is essential that the candidate address the required qualifications above in the application.

1.  Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy. 

2.  Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.

3.  Currently employed US Citizen EFMs who hold a FMA appointment are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.

4. Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment, unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
