August 17, 2004

No. 40/04

Bahir Dar -- U.S. Ambassador Aurelia Brazeal on August 16 officially opened a photo exhibition depicting the 100 years anniversary of the diplomatic and people to people relations between Ethiopia and the United States of America. The U.S. Embassy organized the exhibition in partnership with the Amhara National Regional State Bureau of Youth, Culture and Sports Affairs.

In her opening remarks, Ambassador Brazeal said the exhibition reflects “a partnership that already bridges a century. The Ambassador remarked, “I strongly believe that this photo exhibition will serve as a reminder that for over a century, when the U.S. came to Ethiopia in friendship to open commercial interchange, relationship by relationship, person by person; we have built a solid foundation on which to construct our next century of friendship and mutual respect.

Officials of the Amhara Regional State and Zonal Branch Offices, representatives of the local community, students and other invited guests attended the opening of the photo exhibition, which displayed about seventy-one photos illustrating the 100 years of U.S.-Ethiopian diplomatic relations. The exhibition will remain open until August 20.

The same exhibition was displayed in the town of Gondar from August 9-13, and will also be shown in other regional towns.
