English Language Program
English Teaching Materials - In an effort to upgrade English teaching in Ethiopia, Post purchases and provides local schools with agency produced materials.
English Teaching Forum - A quarterly professional journal for teachers of English abroad. Each year, Post subscribes and distributes the journal to Ethiopian teachers of English.
English Teaching Fellows (ETF) - The ETF programs enables recent U.S. citizen recipients of M.A. degrees in Teaching English as a Foreign/Second Language to selected institutions outside the United States so that they may teach and otherwise share their professional expertise in modern English teaching methods for periods of up to a full academic year. Each year, USIA in Washington invites posts to participate in the program and to submit requests for one or more English Teaching Fellows. Three to four fellows will be assigned to Africa. Cost sharing is an integral feature of the program.
English Teaching Recycling Program - Public Affairs Section Addis Ababa actively promotes the sale and distribution of Agency produced English Teaching materials. The program is a mechanism to generate funds for posts around the world to supplement the budget with non-appropriated funds. Recycling proceeds can be used for variety of English Teaching activities such as visits by English language specialists, scholarships to Agency-affiliated teaching courses, convention grants, etc.
