Ambassador's Special Self-Help Program
Criteria for Eligibility
The Ambassador's Special Self-Help program is accepting applications from June to August for projects which will be funded in the coming fiscal year. Your project may be eligible for funding through the Ambassador's Special Self-Help Program, which provides development assistance to community projects which meet the following criteria:
- The project must be initiated by the community and should benefit the community by increasing income or improving living conditions.
- This project should be sustainable and not require continued outside support after the one-time contribution from the Self-Help Program.
- The community must make substantial contributions to the project in money or in kind (labor, sand, stone, building materials, etc.)
- All Self-Help projects must be completed within one year.
- Self-Help funds cannot be used for consumables or non-durable goods, administration,vechicles, training, or transportation costs. Funds supplied through the Ambassador's Special Self-Help Program cannot be used for religious, police or military activities.
- Projects typically funded are in the range of 5,000 - 7,000 USD. A few projects are funded at the maximum of 10,000 USD level.
