Statement by Ambassador Vicki Huddleston and Ambassador Bob Dewar

Addis Ababa (U.S. Embassy) - Following is the text of a statement delivered by Ambassador Vicki Huddleston, Chargé d'Affaires of the U.S. Embassy and Chair of the Ambassadors' Donor Group, and Ambassador Bob Dewar, Ambassador of the United Kingdom, which currently holds the presidency of the European Union, on October 1, 2005:

Based on this commitment of the CUD and UEDF, the Prime Minister has agreed to talk with the opposition beginning as early as tomorrow. Ambassador Dewar and I would like to congratulate the ruling party and the opposition on this courageous initiative.
