About Louis Armstrong "Satchmo" Information Resource Center (IRC)

Introduction

The Satchmo Center (IRC) was established in August 2001 to provide information services to Ethiopian audiences using the latest computer-based resources. The Satchmo center is named after the renowned American jazz entertainer and musician, Louis Armstrong, to commemorate his centennial birthday.

Services are aimed at researchers and professionals to provide authoritative information on the United States and topics of regional and bilateral interest.

The Satchmo center is equipped with print and electronic resources on U.S. foreign and domestic policies, economy, law, society, institutions, and events.

Information Resource Center (IRC) Services

Research Assistance

Qualified staff are available to assist with inquiries on U.S. policy issues and general information about the United States. In addition to its extensive online resources, the IRC draws on specialized materials via a network of U.S. information resource centers worldwide and the Office of International Information Programs in Washington, D.C.

Article and Document Alerts

The IRC can send you summaries of current journal articles and research reports on U.S. policy and topics in democracy, government, economy, law, legislation, health, environment, technology, and communication. The staff uses a number of databases to provide the full text of items selected from the lists. Article and Document Alerts can be sent by e-mail, fax, postal service, or hand delivery. To subscribe to this service, contact the IRC staff.
